"I love drugstore makeup" tag

Hi ladies so today I'm doing this "I <3 drugstore makeup" tag. It was started by MakeupByAlli (love her!) and MakeupByFran. I don't know what I would do without drugstore makeup. Most of my makeup is actually drugstore makeup! So anyway I thought it would be fun to do this tag.

The Questions:

1. What is your favorite drugstore makeup brand overall?
I would have to say Revlon. Revlon has probably the biggest selection of products out of the drugstore brands. usually Revlon's products are good quality too.

2. What are your favorite face, cheek and lip products?
L'Oreal foundations usually work pretty well for me. However, I will be buying a new Revlon one pretty soon so expect a review on that to come fairly soon! I love the Garnier BB cream too. Blush I would have to say Rimmel blush and Essence because they are inexpensive (especially Essence) and have a variety of colours. For lip products I would say Revlon hands down. They have so many colours to choose from and are good quality.

 3. Least favorite product?
My least favorite product is Maxfactor's Xperience Sheer Gloss Balm (in Pink Opal). I think I wanted this product to be something different. I saw it worn in a picture and it looked totally different on me and the texture is awful it doesn't feel like a gloss balm at all. It feels too gritty and glittery on my lips and makes my lips look flaky, even when they aren't. This product was just a fail for me.

4. What is the best makeup bargain?
I just can't narrow this down to just one product so I decided on best bargain brand overall. I think Catrice products are such a bargain and are packaged so nicely.

5. What is your favorite underdog product? (Something you love that often gets overlooked?)
I'm pretty sure many people don't know this brand. I happen to really like their lip glosses because they have pretty colours and smell so good. The product I'm talking about is Aura lip glosses. In SA you can only find this brand in Queens Park so I don't know if it qualifies as a drugstore product but by just looking at the price it sure could!

6. A drugstore product that is overpriced?
I would say that Revlon's Colorstay Nail Polish is overpriced.

7. Show your best drugstore dupe(s)!!
NYX Push Up Bra For Brows is a great dupe for Benefit's High Brow or Eye Bright!

8. Drugstore product that isn't worth the hype?
Maybelline's Great Lash. It did nothing for my lashes. I don't know what the fuss is about.

What are your drugstore faves? XO

Makeup Haul

I did a little bit of makeup shopping yesterday and here's what I bought. Such lovelies:)

Inglot eyeshadows (freedom system)

 Inglot: 409 Pearl(left) and 326 Matte(right) (Without flash)
 (With flash)

Inglot eyeshadows: I love these two colours! 409 Pearl reminds me so much of MAC Tempting. 326 Matte reminds me slightly of MAC Embark, however Embark is much more of a red brown and 326 M is much more grey/purple. These eyeshadows have AMAZING colour payoff (as you can see). Each individual eyeshadow costs R79 and are bigger than MAC's. Inglot 2,7g and Mac 1.3g. I would defiantly consider 409 Pearl to be a dupe for MAC Tempting. Here is a swatch of MAC Tempting to compare:
MAC Tempting (with flash) Can you see, they're almost identical?

MAC All That Glitters eyeshadow (with flash)

MAC All That Glitters: I am sure many of you are familiar with this gorgeous eyeshadow, I am a little late to jump on the bandwagon. I think this eyeshadow is so pretty and so versatile. It also has great colour payoff as most MAC eyeshadows do.
  (without flash)
Revlon Colorburst Lip Butter in 075 Lollipop(left) Revlon Colorburst Lip Butter in 055 Cupcake(middle) MAC Lipglass in Pink Poodle(right)
(with flash)

Lip products: The lip butters are so nice. Some people really don't like them, but I do. My favorite colour between the two is Lollipop (bright fuchsia) but I still love Cupcake (pale pink with blue undertones). They obviously don't last that long and aren't extremely moisturizing but still feel really soft on your lips. MAC Pink Poodle is such a fun hot pink colour that pairs perfectly with Lollipop. I love the smell of MAC lip products, vanilla mmm!

MAC Something Special Cremeblend Blush (with flash)

MAC Something Special Cremeblend Blush: I really like this cream blush. It's perfect for spring and gives you a nice dewy look. It's very natural looking. I find it didn't last me very long though (boo!). You are going to have to touch up every few hours or so with this but nevertheless it's still a very pretty cream blush.

Thanks for reading! XO

October Favorites

Hey Everyone :) This is my first favorites post, yay! So lately I have been loving these products and so I thought I would share them with you.

Garnier BB cream: Love this! I have just done a review on this breaking it down so if you want to know more check it out here: http://beautyandthingswithjulia.blogspot.com/2012/10/garnier-bb-cream-miracle-skin-perfector.html. Basically this is just a really nice tinted moisturizer.

Benefit Hoola matte bronzer: When I first tried this bronzer I took an angled brush and applied it just beneath my cheekbones. When I put it on (without blending) it looked like dirt on my face, gross right? However, it only took a bit of blending to transform it. It contoured my face really nicely in a natural way, adding some nice color to my face. Only thing I'm not mad about is the smell, it's a bit strange.

Revlon Colorstay eyeshadow quad in Decadent: Gorgeous, pretty girly colors in this quad. Gold browns and pink shimmers. Simply mooi! (By the way "mooi" means beautiful/pretty in Afrikaans) :P

NYX Doll Eyes Mascara Volume: You can get this mascara in length or volume, I chose volume because I am still on the hunt for a mascara that packs a punch. So far the most kind of in your face mascara i have used is Rimmel's Maxx. This mascara I bought because I thought it might be like Lancome Doll Eyes. This mascara is a nice mascara that actually holds a curl quite well. It made my lashes look a little fluttery. The formula is a bit gloopy, I took the wand out and it took a whole load of product with it, but nevertheless still a nice mascara I would get again. What's your favorite mascara?

NYX Push Up Bra For Brows: This is really nice and the highlighter side being a great dupe for Benefit's Bright Eyes ot High Brow. It's just a slightly darker pink shade. It's great for highlighting around the eye area. The actual brow pencil is a very neutral color which I like and application is very controlled with this because it doesn't pack on a lot of color in one go.

Maybelline  Master Precise eyeliner pen: When they say ''Precise" they mean it! This is the best eyeliner pen I have used. The extremely lone tip makes it so easy to use and to wing it out, and the color pay off is amazing. It's really a black black that doesn't fade. I once tried an Avon one that would turn like a green grey color after a while, eew! This one is so nice, defiantly a great find.

Well that's it for me, Hope you all have a great weekend! XO
Would love to know any of your thoughts :)
